Captain Logan- Couples Trip, February 11-19, 2011

Trek Safaris has an exclusive couples trip planned on the Rio Negro in the Amazon basin of Brazil. This is a one of a kind offer that puts you on a deluxe river yacht fishing for the beautiful Peacock Bass and excursions into the jungles and backwaters of the grandest of all outdoor stages.

Trek Safaris and the Amazon have been synonymous for over 25 years. We’ve sent anglers and non-anglers alike as far west as the headwaters and east to where the Amazon empties into the Atlantic. In between these points is the city of Manaus and what is considered the capital of the Amazon. This historical city is located on the mighty Rio Negro, a major tributary of the Amazon with its headwaters in Venezuela. It is up this river for over a hundred miles that the mighty and beautiful peacock bass lives. And it’s here that Trek has planned a very unique couples trip.
Trek has contracted the use of the 95 foot river yacht The Captain Logan for an all couples trip February 11-19, 2011. It will be reserved for the first six couples only and exclusive to Trek and its members. We have chosen the Capt Logan, owned by a Brazilian company named Capt Peacock because of the boats beautiful design, elegant furnishings and superb service. The Capt Logan also has the best native guides of any vessel in the Amazon which means you’ll catch more fish and most likely get an answer to all of your Amazon questions. The Captain Logan actually just broke the existing all tackle world record on peacock bass with a 28 pound monster in February of 2010. Your host and manager on board will be owner Leonardo Leao who was born in Brazil and educated in the U.S. and is the perfect host for this journey.

The Trip:  Our adventure starts with a Wednesday morning departure from Miami to Manaus (Trek will be happy to assist you in making your air arrangements) arriving there that afternoon. Our group will then transfer directly to the Tropical Hotel.

The remainder of today at leisure in  Manaus. After breakfast at the hotel the next morning you will be met and be transferred to your charter flight to Barcelos and on to the Capt Logan to get settled in. Friday-Wednesday the group will be exposed to some incredible fishing for peacock bass, pirahnas, catfish and surubi.

Our groups can also take part in daily excursions including visits to local villages and their way of life, jungles tours looking at bird and fauna, and backwater journeys where huge canopy forests climb to the sky and visit some critters here you may have not seen before. This trip will be as structured as you want it to be, with one thing for  sure; every day your guide and private boat will go where you  want to go and when you are ready.

Each evening the Capt Logan will cruise to a different part of the Rio Negro and that is the beauty of having a motherboat operation. On Thursday the group returns to Barcleos for the flight back to Manaus and on to the international airport in time to connect with your afternoon flight to Miami.

The Capt Logan:  The Capt Logan is 95 plus feet of  river yacht and designed for fast and safe voyages on the Amazon. It has 6 staterooms with a queen size bed and double bed in bunk style. The food and service on board the Capt Logan is excellent and laundry is cleaned daily. There is plenty of room on board and gathering spots throughout including the top deck for magnificent views.
