Trek Safaris knows the peacock bass like no other, because we've chased them from Panama to Brazil for over 30 years now. We have partnered with two operations that produce the best South America peacock bass fishing trip in the industry today. The peacock is actually a giant tropical fish in the Cichlid species family but you couldn’t contain one in an aquarium. It’s a super aggressive predatory fish and anglers consider them a trophy, especially those in the double digit range to 25 pounds that can be found mostly between the third degree latitudes of the equator in the Western Hemisphere. Much of this habitat range is located in the country of Brazil along the Rio Negro in the State of Amazonas. If you want to catch trophy peacock bass, the Rio Negro Region in Brazil is by far your best bet.

What we have also discovered during our many of years of experience, is that there are two different methods of catching quality fish on a consistent basis. The first option would be using a mothership as a base of operations and moving it on a daily basis. After extended research Trek Safaris,Peacock Fishing, Brazil is pleased to have contracted the services of the Captain Peacock for the coming season. At 95 ft in length, this elegantly designed yacht is fast and offers a deluxe trip for those who want the very best food, service and staff as well as the best fishing guides in the region. The Captain Peacock accommodates 12 guests a week in six nicely decorated staterooms with an upgrade to the master suite upon availability. Your shallow draft aluminum fishing boats will venture as far back in the jungle as you need to go. But it is not just the fishing that keeps you captivated, this part of the world has monkeys, sloughs, crocodiles, fresh water dolphins and thousands of bird species including parrots and toucans.

A second option would be to stay on our floating cabins in remote headwaters of the Rio Negro Region. This option works best for those looking for more of an Amazon experince and wished to live wth the critters so to speak. There are four cabins and a dining cabin that are pulled behind a supply vessel to hard to reach areas protected by natural barriers. This fact offers only eight anglers a chance to take a number of peacock bass in areas with less pressure and still moble enough to move in the event water levels change. These remote floating camps are very isolated and only reached by floatplane. Trek also offers an exclusive short trip option of four days fishing and a weeks stay versus stays of 9-10 day in other operations. This is truly a very unique experience.

The season actually starts in September where some groups choose to fish a more southern region where critical water levels are optimal on the Rio Madiera. By mid-to late October the Rio Negro starts to recede and fish are more prevalent right through to the beginning of March. Our trips are a Wednesday to the following Thursday week with six and half days of fishing and inclusive of a night in the Amazon capital of Manaus. For the coming season, TAM Airlines will have daily non-stop service to Manaus from Miami and we have based our trips on their flight and have contracted rates. We also have contracted low rates with Delta Airlines as well offering limited non-stop service from Atlanta to Manaus. Trek is  full service agency and will plan a schedule to suit your plans whether on TAM or Delta. Please call 800 654-9915 for available dates, current prices and a sample itinerary.
