Las Palomas Lodge

Las Palomas Lodge is as first class as you will find anywhere, the shooting is excellent and the service is hands on from Jorge and Karen Molina all they way down.  Think the high volume with the Latin flavor of Colombia. Call Trek today and ask for our new Cast and Blast Special running from August 15th through October.

The Trip: After many years of research and experience, we have learned that a lodge needs to be where the birds are and Las Palomas has achieved this. Drives are only 30-45 minutes in most cases and sometimes less. Vehicles are SUV’s with all the comforts needed for dirt roads in the country. This area is known for its many Mennonite Communities and on occasions we will hunt their lands and learn about their culture. It is impossible at times to describe the sheer number of Doves that pour into the corn, sorghum and sunflower fields. But your shell bill will tell the tale!!

The Accommodations:  Outfitter Jorge Molina has expanded what was already a tremendous facility into one of the finest hunting lodges in South America. The lodge now accommodates 12 hunters in single rooms and sports a brand new swimming pool that gives the lodge the look and feel of a resort. Imagine that, a resort in the middle of the Chaco where you can shoot eared until your shoulder can’t stand it and return for dip in either their 8 person hot tub or the new swimming pool complete with bar. Massage, no problem they have room for those as well.

The Hunting:  Getting there is easy with daily flights into Santa Cruz where you will be whisked away to your waiting 25 minute charter flight that will land on the property. You’ll have time for an afternoon shoot followed by two or three more shooting days before one last morning hunt and an overnight at a five star hotel in Santa Cruz. Your return flight will be a day flight having you home in the same day.

Cast and Blast Special: Bolivia borders with Brazil and the rivers in the northern most zone known as the Beni, most of these rivers are tributaries to the mighty Amazon. Thus Peacock Bass and other ferocious fish can be found is great numbers. Jorge Molina has traveled extensively in these areas and has now built an Alaskan styled wall tent fishing camp.  Now please note these Peacocks range from 3-8 pounds and are not the huge 20 pounder’s that you find closer to the equator on the Rio Negro. But you will catch from 50 -100 fish per person per day, excellent top water and sub surface fishing to the point you will be wore out in two and half days.
