Bolivia Fishing

The Peacock Bass is without a doubt has one of the most ferocious strikes of any fish pound for pound. They can literally knock a top water bait five feet in the air only to nail it again once they land back in the water. Brazil and Colombia have the monster sized fish but if you like to catch a lot of fish, Bolivia is high volume! The peacock bass here are of a different strain so they only reach about 12 pounds maximum and the average size is about three pound with lots of fish in the five to eight pounds range. It is not difficult to catch from 60 to over 100 fish a day per person! These fish are incredibly ferocious and when you mix in piranha, pacu, monster catfish and several other lower Amazon species Bolivia is truly one of the few relatively virgin fishing areas left. The main area for Peacocks is called the Beni which is along the north eastern area of Bolivia and the boarder area with Brazil. Most of the rivers and lakes (when flooded) in this area feed into the Amazon River so they even have the famed fresh water pink porpoise.
Cano Negro Fishing Lodge Is our newest location in Bolivia and was finished in November of 2008. The lodge is a permanent camp built out of the wood of the Jungle. This lodge can hold up to eight anglers at a time and also offers Payara fishing along with the abundant peacock bass. Caño Negro Lodge has four aluminum boats powered with four stroke Hondas so considering your location, you will fishing in comfort and safety. This trip is geared to the angler who is looking for a real adventure to catch a wide variety of Amazon fish in a place few have fished.
