Alaska
A sportsman's life is not complete until he or she has visited our 49th state of Alaska. This huge, diverse land covers over 500,000 square miles and is one-fifth the size of the U.S. To better understand the opportunities that Alaska offers, you should almost consider it a country rather than a State. Ranging from the glacier peaks and coastal fishing in the southeast, to stream, lake, and river fishing along the coastal interior, Alaska will offer tremendous opportunities for any die-hard angler. Huge rainbow trout, five species of Pacific salmon, char, Dolly Varden, and halibut, are all part of the beautiful place called Alaska.
Trek has put together a list of our preferred lodges and operations in Alaska that will fit the budget and needs of most anglers. Look over these descriptions and call us for a free brochure or more details. It is most important that you plan your Alaska trip with a reputable agent like Trek. Unbiased details about what's in season and which lodge is best for you are critical.

Western Alaska Sportfishing
This is a very unique stationary camp for those who want to live in the bush and really enjoy their adventure. This company headed up by Dave and Kim Egdorf rotates two camp locations from the King Salmon River and the famous Nushagak River that flows into Bristol Bay. On this weeklong trip you'll fish over 40 miles of river and see some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Alaska. While we may call this a camp, its as close to a lodge as you'll find and anglers love being on the water for most of the day and not in a plane. Thousands of salmon make their way to the Nushagak every year and the trout, Dolly Varden and grayling feast on the eggs during the salmon's spawn. Six lucky anglers a week will absolutely enjoy this trip as you soak in the bush life and catch lots of fish from fast jet boats. Season is from June-September.

Mission Lodge
This lodge gets high marks for its fishing tenacity. Using its four Beavers and a Cessna 206, (all on floats) you and your guide will be in the fish all day. The advantage of flying puts you in the best streams and rivers for the pre-spawning salmon which are always the best to catch. No need to worry about what tackle, lures or waders to use, Mission provides it all. The famous Bristol Bay Region is the premier region for Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, char and grayling and Mission has jet boats stationed on the best spots.
Mission is located on the banks of Lake Aleknagik just north of Dillingham and offers a spectacular view from its wraparound deck. The lodge features all the amenities you will require for a deluxe fishing vacation and the added bonus of private rooms for each of their 16 guests. Trip is Friday-to-Friday and easy to reach.

Crystal Creek Lodge
This is one of the most successful fly out fishing lodges in Alaska and it just got better. After 18 years at their original location near Dillingham, owners Lori and Dan Michels have new digs on the Naknek River. It’s located in the bush just outside King Salmon and adjacent to the Katmai National Park. Both Dan and Lori are accomplished pilots as well as angling and wingshooting enthusiasts. It is doubtful you will find a more qualified tandem in all of Alaska. Along with the outstanding trout and salmon you will find by flying their DeHavilland Beavers and Cessna 185’s, they also have a “home waters” package right on the Naknek. The lodge comfortably accommodates twelve anglers a week with gourmet meals and first class service. Crystal Creek also offers a Sky Trekking Package whereby non-anglers get a taste of real Alaska in style. Trek ranks Crystal Creek as the best lodge available for a cast and blast program where all the gear is provided. Dates are extremely limited so call today.

Fishing Unlimited Lodge
This wonderful facility gets high marks for overall service and the unique lodge layout. Accommodating 18 anglers week on a Friday to Friday basis, FUL is a full fly out operation using two DeHavilland Beavers and two Cessna 206's all on floats that access those places only a plane can reach. Unlike some fly-out lodges, these planes stay with you the whole day. So if there is ever a need to crank up and go, you are ready to do so. The lodge is situated on the banks of Lake Clark and adjacent to Lake Clark National Forest and takes in a view of the surrounding Alaskan Range. Its nine individual cabins are spread out amongst the alder trees on five beautiful acres. There are also two main lodges that include the dining room and recreational room and plenty of space in each. You will also enjoy two hot tubs and two saunas and enough privacy to enjoy each. Food and service are excellent and anglers have grown accustomed to the gourmet meals.
But the fishing is the main focus of the trip and depending on when you travel, will ultimately determine which of the five species of salmon you'll catch. Also available year round are the rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and arctic grayling. Fishing Unlimited also operates its own charter service from Anchorage to Port Alsworth and allows them to promote partial weeks as well as the full week package. Fishing areas include Bristol Bay, Kodiak Island and Illiamna.

Boardwalk Wilderness Lodge
There are few lodges in Alaska as beautifully constructed as BWL. It actually took seven years to build!! This is a first class operation all the way around from the fishing to gourmet meals but still maintains its Alaskan roots.
Each fishing day is planned around the type of fish you wish to battle. Whether it's the incredibly powerful steelhead or the delicate bite of the Dolly Varden, you'll have plenty of opportunity to catch the native fish of Thorne Bay on Prince of Wales Island. While you are fishing, you'll be amazed at the abundance of wildlife on this island of 2200 square miles. From BWL you will see bears, otters, eagles, whales, and deer. Writing about this region of the world will never do it justice. If catching trout and salmon are not enough, the calm waters of the inside passage will allow you to take halibut from BWL's 26 foot Olympic cruisers. While fishing for these great eating fish, it's not uncommon to see killer whales surface right near the boat. For those who want no boundaries for their fishing, BWL can order your own plane for an additional charge to take you to places rarely seen by anglers. Cascading falls, hundreds of small remote islands, and numerous tranquil bays that mirror the snow-capped mountains, are all part of the landscape here. Once your day is complete, order up a massage from the on-site masseuse, or soak in the outdoor hot tub and look for signs of beer or deer. Owner Lowell Nelson, will be around the make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. We suggest a four day fishing and getting there is easy as daily floatplanes are arranged from Ketchikan.
