Slovakia - Driven Pheasant shooting and touring
Season November-January

This has become one of our favorite trips for couples and small groups. The trip includes 2 days of touring in Vienna for the entire group along with three days of shooting for the guns and three days of tours for the non-shooters in Slovakia.

Our outfitter, Jagd Stiedl, has been organizing driven pheasant shoots for over 40 years and their reputation and experience is well known around the world. Every aspect of the trip has been carefully planned and is executed with expert personal care of Jagd Stiedl and his well-trained staff. The trips are limited to 4-6 shooters/couples making this a great trip for a private group of 4-6 couples.

All of our groups will be using the Vozokany Castle. The castle is located about 100 miles from Vienna and is within a 45-minute drive of the shooting estates. The castle has been nicely renovated with beautiful big rooms and in suite bathrooms and antique furniture. Evenings are a real treat as well as for two of the evenings we will have live Gypsy music or an operetta performance from a couple members of the Bratislava State Opera, exclusively arranged for the party. As well every evening we will have a Cocktail hour complete with an open bar, Beluga Caviar, Goose liver paté, Norwegian and Scottish Salmon, and of course Champagne before dinner which starts at 8 o' clock.

The trip has 3 days of shooting with 150 birds per person included, spread over the 3 days. You will have one walk-up day and two driven days at the Cifare and Hrable shooting estates. The first shooting day will be walk up shooting for pheasants over dogs, pointing the birds as well as flushing them. Each guest will have a loader/helper with him and 1 or 2 dogs. We will hunt up to 1 PM, and then have a nice hot meal out in the fields (not just a picnic). After lunch we will continue hunting till dusk. The next two days will be traditional driven shoots with all the pageantry and old aristocratic flavor on the Monarchs with stand numbers, gun loaders, beaters and horn blowers. We will have 4-5 drives in the morning, have lunch at the hunting lodge on the shooting estate and then have another 2 to 3 drives in the afternoon. Also between the drives tapas and drinks will be served. Everyday we will have the traditional game parade complete with a campfire. If you have never shot in Eastern Europe with horn blowers, than you are in for a treat as the pageantry will make you feel as if you were visiting royalty. The trip is from Sunday to Saturday or 7 days 6 nights with 4 nights at the Vozokany Castle and 2 nights in Vienna at the Park Hotel Schönbrunn. The trip is great for couples as 2 days of tours are planned for the time in Vienna and tours are arranged on the shooting days for the non-shooters. The trip originates when you arrive in Vienna.
