Hungary - Pheasant shooting
Season November-January

In Hungary you will experience some of the finest Eastern European pheasant shooting with one of, if not the best, outfitter in Jagd Stiedl. Hungary is known for its high and challenging birds due to the hilly terrain in the northern part of the country. Accommodations during this shoot include two nights at the Park Hotel Schönbrunn in Vienna where you will have two days of touring before leaving for the shoot in Hungary. During the shooting days we will have exclusive use of the Castle Bercel. This is a small privately owned Château that offers 12 large double rooms, which are well appointed with antique funishings. Preparing excellent traditional Hungarian cuisine such as hearty stews, local game fare and delicious cakes and pastries is the pride of the landlady her staff.

The most popular trip has three days of shooting. You will enjoy a half day of walk up pheasant shooting and a half day of flighted duck shooting and two full days of excellent driven pheasants over very hilly terrain. The shoots take place amongst 11 different estates known for their challenging design that are so popular in Europe. The drives to the estates range from 20-60 minutes and Jagd Stiedl is well known for putting on a superior hunt and we are sure that the shooting will please even the most experienced shooters. European shoots are generally reserved as a private line of guns that have the phesant driven to them by beaters. Most lines consist of 8-10 gunners. The trip also includes a day and a half touring in Vienna, a day touring while transferring from Vienna through Budapest to the Castle Bercel so this is an excellent trip for couples.

While the shooters are in the field, we have tours arranged so that the non-shooters will be busy throughout the trip as well. Some of these activities include a tour and lunch in the town of Eger, a full day visiting Gödöll Habsburg Castle, once the resident of the famous Emperess Sisi who was a cultural icon in the 19th century, and some shopping and visits to small villages on the Danube.   Evenings at Bercel are a cultural and royal affair as you will be an audience to local musicians and entertainment as well as culinarys delight fit for the Kings and Queens of an era gone by. Needless to say you andf your party will be well looked after.

 The trip originates when you arrive in Vienna and ends in Budapest where you will be delivered to the international airport. Call our travel department if you need assistance with airfare to Vienna. This trip can be upgraded to include staying at nearby Eagle Castle and some time in Budapest.
