Islas Secas

Our location, boats and fishing team led by Carter Andrews are what make the Islas Secas fishing experience truly unique! Panama has been called the Big Game Sport Fishing Capital of the World! Islas Secas is the closest land-based lodge to the world famous fishing grounds of Hannibal Bank (twenty-five miles) and Isla Montuosa (thirty miles).  Other operations are at least fifty miles from these locations. These fishing grounds thrive due to nutrient-filled waters from the Humboldt Current being pushed into sea mounts that create upwellings and provide a food chain which results in a feeding frenzy.

World renowned angler Carter Andrews has fully immersed himself in the development of the Islas Secas fishing experience and the results are outstanding. Carter has been in the fishing industry for over twenty years. We could not have asked for a more dedicated individual to be our Director of Fishing. His extensive knowledge of all fishing disciplines, from the light tackle inshore to the big game offshore, has made it possible for us to create the ultimate fishing experience!

Inshore Fishing

From Bahia Honda to Punta Barica and all the islands in between, there are hundreds of miles of shoreline and many near-shore rocks that offer some of the finest popper and jig fishing in the world! While slowly working these rocky shorelines we are simultaneously slow-trolling live baits. Primary species include Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Bluefin Trevalley, big Grouper and an assortment of other Snappers, Jacks and Mackerel. The spectacular scenery will create indelible memories. Many rock piles and ledges in deeper water are loaded with monster Grouper and Snapper. Dropping jigs or bait produces instant gratification!

Offshore Fishing

The nutrient-rich waters of the Gulf of ChiriquÌ are considered some of the finest in the world. Hannibal Bank, Isla Montuosa, Islas Ladrones, Coiba – these are our fishing grounds. These are the fabled and proven waters that have been fished by many of the greatest anglers in the world. Our multi-species, multi-tackle approach offers something for every angler. This is adventure-packed high adrenalin fishing! Almost every species can be caught year-round. We will develop daily plans, depending on the species you wish to catch and the techniques you would like to use. Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo can all be caught on a regular basis. Trolling lures, lures and dead bait, bait and switch, live bait, casting and jigging; the choice is yours! All fishing is done from one of our two 34 ft. SeaVee's with twin 300hp Suzuki motors, or our Custom 58 ft. Donzi Sportfish. All three boats have state-of-the-art electronics and the finest tackle.
