La Chinendega Trip

Chinandega, Nicaragua has built a very solid reputation the last 18 years for offering excellent blue-winged teal and white-winged dove shooting. It most definitetly is by far the most organized hunting trip in Central America and located just 2.5 hours from Miami International. This region is located in the northwest corner along the Pacific corridor and in the heart of some of the best farmland in Nicaragua. Our duck lagoons are primarily fresh water that forms from the big rains during their winter months of June to mid October at consistent levels through February. Our fleet of airboats come to life before dawn and put you and your pick-up boy in your platform blind before sun-up. Your bird retriever and duck caller will be your pick-up boy and will no doubt be your best friend before he trip is over.

There will be two hunts a day with mornings reserved for ducks and afternoons for dove shooting. This could change depending on what the scouts determine. You will find the limits both for ducks and dove to be very liberal yet perfectly legal. After shooting in the morning we will break for lunch and a siesta before heading back out for the afternoon dove shoot and back in time to see the sun set.  

Our accommodations will be the newly constructed Villas del Cortijo that house two hunters in each unit in single rooms with a common living room. Cortijo has a dining room, lounge and a swimming pool for our groups. You will find the food, service and hospitality to be some of the best in Nicaragua.

The trip starts from Miami with a midday departure on American Airlines or a late afternoon departure from Atlanta on Delta Airlines to Managua.  Groups are met at the airport by your hosts, Marvin and Richard Townsend, and taken by air-conditioned vans straight to the brand new Hotel Villas del Cortijo in Chinandega- about a two-hour drive on good roads. The following three days are full hunting days. We will shoot both morning and afternoon returning to the hotel for lunch and a siesta in the middle of the day. This trip will have three half days off duck hunting and three half days of dove hunting. The last day we will pack up and drive back to Managua for our flight home. All told, this is a five day/four night trip.
