Alabama

Rockfence Station near Lafayette, Alabama is one of the finest quail plantations in the South. Excellent facilities offer great quail hunting over well trained pointers. Accommodations, meals and service are top notch. Owner, Ray McClendon and his son, Branch, are "on hand owners" who are there to run the operation. One and a half hour drive from the Atlanta airport, it's convenient for a weekend shoot. The lodge can be used for conferences or business meetings as well. The lodge also features a sporting clays range, skeet, trap, five stand, pistol and rifle range and a pigeon ring. If it has something to do with a shotgun, they've got it. Prices are very reasonable with a full day hunt (15 quail per day), accommodations and meals about $400.00. This is a bargain price for what you get. Season is from October 1st - March 30th. Spring turkey hunting is available. Rockfence was previously selected as the host site for the annual NASCAR/PGA Celebrity Shoot-Off.

Alaska

A sportsman's life is not complete until he or she has visited our 49th state of Alaska. This huge, diverse land covers over 500,000 square miles and is one-fifth the size of the U.S. To better understand the opportunities that Alaska offers, you should almost consider it a country rather than a State. Ranging from the glacier peaks and coastal fishing in the southeast, to stream, lake, and river fishing along the coastal interior, Alaska will offer tremendous opportunities for any die-hard angler. Huge rainbow trout, five species of Pacific salmon, char, Dolly Varden, and halibut, are all part of the beautiful place called Alaska.

Trek has put together a list of our preferred lodges and operations in Alaska that will fit the budget and needs of most anglers. Look over these descriptions and call us for a free brochure or more details. It is most important that you plan your Alaska trip with a reputable agent like Trek. Unbiased details about what's in season and which lodge is best for you are critical.

Western Alaska Sportfishing
This is a very unique stationary camp for those who want to live in the bush and really enjoy their adventure. This company headed up by Dave and Kim Egdorf rotates two camp locations from the King Salmon River and the famous Nushagak River that flows into Bristol Bay. On this weeklong trip you'll fish over 40 miles of river and see some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Alaska. While we may call this a camp, its as close to a lodge as you'll find and anglers love being on the water for most of the day and not in a plane. Thousands of salmon make their way to the Nushagak every year and the trout, Dolly Varden and grayling feast on the eggs during the salmon's spawn. Six lucky anglers a week will absolutely enjoy this trip as you soak in the bush life and catch lots of fish from fast jet boats. Season is from June-September.

Mission Lodge
This lodge gets high marks for its fishing tenacity. Using its four Beavers and a Cessna 206, (all on floats) you and your guide will be in the fish all day. The advantage of flying puts you in the best streams and rivers for the pre-spawning salmon which are always the best to catch. No need to worry about what tackle, lures or waders to use, Mission provides it all. The famous Bristol Bay Region is the premier region for Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, char and grayling and Mission has jet boats stationed on the best spots.

Mission is located on the banks of Lake Aleknagik just north of Dillingham and offers a spectacular view from its wraparound deck. The lodge features all the amenities you will require for a deluxe fishing vacation and the added bonus of private rooms for each of their 16 guests. Trip is Friday-to-Friday and easy to reach.

Crystal Creek Lodge

Crystal Creek Lodge
This is one of the most successful fly out fishing lodges in Alaska and it just got better. After 18 years at their original location near Dillingham, owners Lori and Dan Michels have new digs on the Naknek River. It’s located in the bush just outside King Salmon and adjacent to the Katmai National Park. Both Dan and Lori are accomplished pilots as well as angling and wingshooting enthusiasts. It is doubtful you will find a more qualified tandem in all of Alaska. Along with the outstanding trout and salmon you will find by flying their DeHavilland Beavers and Cessna 185’s, they also have a “home waters” package right on the Naknek. The lodge comfortably accommodates twelve anglers a week with gourmet meals and first class service. Crystal Creek also offers a Sky Trekking Package whereby non-anglers get a taste of real Alaska in style. Trek ranks Crystal Creek as the best lodge available for a cast and blast program where all the gear is provided. Dates are extremely limited so call today.

Fishing Unlimited Lodge
This wonderful facility gets high marks for overall service and the unique lodge layout. Accommodating 18 anglers week on a Friday to Friday basis, FUL is a full fly out operation using two DeHavilland Beavers and two Cessna 206's all on floats that access those places only a plane can reach. Unlike some fly-out lodges, these planes stay with you the whole day. So if there is ever a need to crank up and go, you are ready to do so. The lodge is situated on the banks of Lake Clark and adjacent to Lake Clark National Forest and takes in a view of the surrounding Alaskan Range. Its nine individual cabins are spread out amongst the alder trees on five beautiful acres. There are also two main lodges that include the dining room and recreational room and plenty of space in each. You will also enjoy two hot tubs and two saunas and enough privacy to enjoy each. Food and service are excellent and anglers have grown accustomed to the gourmet meals.

But the fishing is the main focus of the trip and depending on when you travel, will ultimately determine which of the five species of salmon you'll catch. Also available year round are the rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and arctic grayling. Fishing Unlimited also operates its own charter service from Anchorage to Port Alsworth and allows them to promote partial weeks as well as the full week package. Fishing areas include Bristol Bay, Kodiak Island and Illiamna.

Boardwalk Wilderness Lodge
There are few lodges in Alaska as beautifully constructed as BWL. It actually took seven years to build!! This is a first class operation all the way around from the fishing to gourmet meals but still maintains its Alaskan roots.

Each fishing day is planned around the type of fish you wish to battle. Whether it's the incredibly powerful steelhead or the delicate bite of the Dolly Varden, you'll have plenty of opportunity to catch the native fish of Thorne Bay on Prince of Wales Island. While you are fishing, you'll be amazed at the abundance of wildlife on this island of 2200 square miles. From BWL you will see bears, otters, eagles, whales, and deer. Writing about this region of the world will never do it justice. If catching trout and salmon are not enough, the calm waters of the inside passage will allow you to take halibut from BWL's 26 foot Olympic cruisers. While fishing for these great eating fish, it's not uncommon to see killer whales surface right near the boat. For those who want no boundaries for their fishing, BWL can order your own plane for an additional charge to take you to places rarely seen by anglers. Cascading falls, hundreds of small remote islands, and numerous tranquil bays that mirror the snow-capped mountains, are all part of the landscape here. Once your day is complete, order up a massage from the on-site masseuse, or soak in the outdoor hot tub and look for signs of beer or deer. Owner Lowell Nelson, will be around the make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. We suggest a four day fishing and getting there is easy as daily floatplanes are arranged from Ketchikan.

Canada

GeeseIn Saskatchewan, we use the services of Doug Montgomery who operates goose and upland game hunts near the town of Regina. Montgomery is a well experience guide and has been featured in several outdoor articles and shows. His hunts for lesser Canadas, snows and speckled-bellies geese are done in exclusive bodies of water that act as staging areas for geese headed south. Wheatfields, lakes and sloughs are also full of ducks during the fall months. Pintails, mallards, teal, canvasbacks and bluebills stage here by the thousands each fall and Montgomery knows how to hunt them. If you like your upland game hunting, then Regina is you place and few guides can hunt them like Montgomery. Hungarian partridge and sharp tail grouse are the species of note and hunters generally get their limits each day. Some walking is involved but if you can walk an 18-hole golf course, then you can hunt in Regina for upland birds.

Our headquarters on this trip is the Main Stay Inn, which is practically Montgomery’s private lodge. It has ten en-suite bedrooms and all the amenities you will require for a great hunting vacation. To reach Regina you will to need book a flight connecting through the city of Saskatoon, which is the capitol of Saskatchewan. Season for hunting upland birds is September/October and waterfowl is October/November. Call for more details and a free color brochure.

Lake Huites, Mexico

This is currently the best location in the world to catch big bass. The fishing is fast and furious no matter what lure you use. Florida Bass were stocked in Lake Huites seven years ago and have now grown to muy grande size. Anglers are recording days with 75-100 plus bass landed per boat in one day with the average size between 2-8 pounds. This past season they had many fish landed over 10 pounds and we won't be surprised if there is a 15-pound bass caught this year.

Located in the State of Sinaloa, this 25,000-acre lake is the latest hydroelectric dam project in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains and it's the perfect environment for these bass to thrive. On this lake you will find submerged logs, deep and shallow coves and narrow canyons to pursue these large bass and the occasional tilapia. The beautiful Lake Huites Lodge sits on a hilltop overlooking the lake and it's definitely the premier facility on Lake Huites. This property has two wings with large rooms for your accommodations and can book up to sixteen anglers. There's a palapa located in the center courtyard where cold margaritas, beers and soft drinks are served upon your arrival and after each fishing session. You'll be pampered by the entire staff, ranging from the excellent cooks who will prepare both American and Mexican cuisine, to the housekeeping crew that will tidy your room each day, as well as the staff that will wash and iron your clothes each day so you don't have to be burdened by over packing. There's even a tackle shop just in case you left that "hot" lure at home.

Getting there is as easy as flying into the city of Los Mochis from Tucson or L.A. and then transfer three hours by van to the lodge. Trek will be happy to arrange your air transportation to Los Mochis. With a great lodge, beautiful lake and lots of big bass, Lake Huites is a must visit angling destination south of the border.

Cabo San Lucas

We also offer excellent angling opportunities on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts. On the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula there is place called Cabo San Lucas that will afford great fishing and luxury accommodations. The beautiful desert like terrain combined with the striking blue Pacific ocean make for quite a visit. Best fishing for sails, white and blue marlin is May to November. Combine this with some championship golf on the area course and this makes for an incredible vacation.

The Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean side offers two different fishing destinations. The first is the island of Cozumel some 30 miles off the coast. This small island is only partially developed and still offers some of the best Atlantic sailfishing around. The season runs from March through June and offers excellent opportunities for families looking for water sports and fishing. Cozumel has some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world as well as beautiful accommodations from the El Presidente Hotel. Boats are both Mexican and American with all the knowledge you will need for great fishing on sails, marlin and wahoo.

Isla Blanca Lagoon

The second location in the Yucatan is Isla Blanca Lagoon north of the city of Cancun. This ten square mile area holds great success for light tackle angling for bonefish, small tarpon, permit, and snook. The lagoon is a maze of flats, and mangroves line canals that will wet both spin and fly anglers' appetites. The boats are owned and operated by experienced English speaking guides. We can put together a package for you, or you may wish to book daily excursions from Cancun.

Lake Baccarac Lodge

The owners of Lake Huites Lodge, have done what needed to be done at Lake Baccarac for twenty years- construct a lakeside lodge that is a mirror image of their fabulous facility on Lake Huites. The new Lake Baccarac Lodge will house 32 anglers at this Mexico bass fishing Mecca. Lake Baccarac was stocked in 1978 with Florida strain largemouth bass. The lake is 25 miles long and five miles wide and is 30,000 acres at full pool. The lake record and also the Central American record of a 19.10 lb. bass followed by an 18.11 lb. bass. Truly, Mexico bass fishing at its finest! Then there is the fishing. Brand-new 18 foot Crestliner boats manned by Lake Baccarac’s famous guides who have an intimate knowledge of the lake, most having twenty years of experience on the lake, await you each morning to help you realize every angler’s dream – that mammoth bass on your line. Lake Baccarac Lodge was built for one reason – to give anglers another opportunity while bass fishing in Mexico to stay in elegant accommodations while enjoying the world’s best bass fishing. Whether there are two of you, twenty of you, give TREK a call so that we may give you the best bass fishing experience you have ever had.
