Wingshooting at the Rio Seco Lodge
Rio Seco has approximately 1,000 acres of sunflowers and cornfields that attract millions of dove every year. There is a very large dove roost within 25 minutes of the ranch. Rio Seco is a 5,000 acre ranch owned jointly by H&H Outfitters (Trek’s partner in Cordoba) and the Graham family of Dublin, Georgia. The lodge has been in operation since 1998 and has recently underwent a massive renovation, bringing it up to par with the other famous H&H lodges.
This is a seven day, six night Argentina Cordoba dove hunting trip that offers you three full and two half days of high volume shooting, as well as a new two full and two half days option. You trip begins on an overnight flight from The US, arriving in Cordoba the following day. Upon your arrival into Cordoba, the staff of H&H Outfitters will assist you with your gun clearance and transfer you to your corresponding lodge. After introductions and lunch, we will head out for an afternoon hunt. We shoot until late afternoon, and then return to the lodge for a hot shower and a drink before dinner. The next three days are full hunting days with asados (local barbecue) in the fields each day. On the last day, you will have a morning hunt and settle up before saying your goodbyes, followed by a transfer to your return afternoon flight that will connect you to an overnight flight home to The States.
Since lodge operators H&H Outfitters own the land that you will be using on this Argentina dove hunting trip, the land is specifically utilized to attract prime amounts of dove. Hayes brothers Alex and Zeke are the namesake of H&H Outfitters, and they ensure an unlimited amount of consistent food for the doves by planting crops exclusively for the use of the doves, as well as the use of no-till methods. These game management techniques allow dove to flourish for the better part of the year at Rio Seco and provide a fantastic shooting experience.
Of course, the shooting experience would not be complete without world class service throughout the hunt. The Hayes brothers offer a premium breakfast at the lodge before the hunt begins, as well as an Argentine asado barbecue in the field complete with gourmet desserts and fine Argentine wines at midday. You are shuttled to the field in air conditioned passenger vans, and will have the use of a personal, experienced bird boy who will provide shells, retrieve downed birds and keep you stocked with the cold drink of your choice. H&H Outfitters provide the best available in Argentina dove hunting.
The Rio Seco ranch house includes 6 comfortable bedrooms with private baths, as well as central air conditioning. Tiled terraces, shady trees, and fine European cuisine add to the luxurious ambiance of this majestic retreat. Another feature that is great for helping you unwind at the end of the day’s hunt is Rio Seco’s in-house massage room. Rio Seco’s season is open for hunters all year long.
The best way to reach Rio Seco is to fly into Santiago, Chile and wait in transit for a flight across the Andes into Cordoba International Airport, where the staff from the lodge will meet the group and clear immigrations and customs before taking the 2 hour drive north to the lodge. Or, you can elect to fly from Buenos Aires, where you can take a flight into Cordoba from either the international airport (Ezeiza) or the domestic airport (Aeroparque) depending on when you arrive to B.A..
