Mexico
Trek has been offering hunts in Mexico for more than 20 years and has learned the do’s and don’t’s. What we do is represent the best operations and don’t promote anything but the best. If you are looking to cross the border to negotiate your way on a hunt, then you are wasting your time in this site. We promote three of the best operations in Mexico that offer first class accommodations, a hassle free trip and excellent game management. These operations are
Gabino’s Yaqui Valley Hunts, Pintail Lodge and
Legends Hunts. On the west coast of Mexico, and near the city of Ciudad Obregon, we offer a three day hunt for some of the best duck and dove action in the Northern Hemisphere. Outfitter Frank Ruiz has an outstanding track record with American hunters and Trek’s relationship with Ruiz goes back 15 years or more. From his lodge called Gabino’s you are treated to a morning duck hunt in the shallow salt estuaries and fresh water lagoons that are exclusive to Gabino’s operation. Ruiz’s airboats get you to the blinds where you’ll see 16 different species of ducks including red-heads, teal and pintails. There is endless habitat here but it is the organization and attention to details that really impresses the hunters. The afternoons are spent hunting the white-wing dove that is ever popular among American sportsmen. Gabino’s accommodates 16 guests and all are pampered with typical Mexican hospitality. Ruiz also operates a sister lodge called Gory’s near the town of Navojoa and where you’ll find the same professionalism found at Gabino’s. Hunters not wanting to bring their guns, and looking to save $450.00, can use the selection of Beretta automatics provided at no charge. Call for a free brochure and more details about the Yaqui Valley area. Season is November through February.
On the eastern side of Mexico is a place called Pintail Lodge. Just a 90 minute drive south of Harlingen, TX will put you into some of the best duck action in Mexico. The lodge is owned by a U.S. company that specializes in outdoor travel. They have put together a team of American and Mexican management that knows how to operate a hunting trip. Guides here are excellent scouts which is critical to any hunt, especially for ducks. The habitat here is located along a 20 mile stretch of the Laguna Madre and combine its salt water marshes with over 40 fresh water ponds. Thousands of ducks winter here including the pintail, teal, red-heads, and widgeons. We’ve arranged a three day hunt here with mornings most active for ducks. The afternoons will be spent hunting dove, geese, and quail. The lodge has eight units and features a main dining and lounge area. This is a well rounded hunt and is most attractive for its ease of assessibilty. Programs are Thursday-Sunday or Sunday-Thursday.
