PanamaPanama Fishing Trips - Gamboa Resort

For over three decades, Trek has been hosting anglers to the land of the Panama Canal and all of its natural diversity. In fact, we took the first organized group of anglers to Lake Gatun for peacock bass in 1976. Today we still operate trips on Gatun, but we’ve also added some new exciting destinations that we think are some of the best in Central America.

Speaking of Lake Gatun, this 166 square mile reservoir for the Panama Canal has consistently satisfied anglers looking to load the boat with the aggressive peacock bass. Catches of bass often range in the hundreds. These aren’t the big boys you see in South America, as most range from 2-5 pounds. But some double digit monsters are around with the lake record at 13 pounds. Trek’s all inclusive package offers a night or two in exciting Panama City, and three days fishing from the beautiful Gamboa Resort on Gatun. All tackle and lures can be provided. This destination offers great value and can be combined with a trip to the Canal. So call today for a brochure and additional information.

Tropic Star Lodge

One of the most successful and endearing fishing lodges in the world is Tropic Star Lodge in Pinas Bay, Panama. In fact, they’ve been operating for over 38 years and for good reason, they do it right. The lodge is a veritable paradise cut from the side of a mountain on the Pacific rim of the Darien Rainforest of Panama, only accessible by boat, or plane. You will fish aboard fully rigged 31 Bertram boats with an experienced native captain at the helm. These Tropic Star captains have broken over 250 IGFA World records, more than any other lodge in the world. Most of the fishing here is done just 6-12 miles offshore. This great reef, discovered by Zane Grey back in the 1920’s, slopes from 120 feet to 350 feet and is home to aquatic life beyond the imagination. This reef, originally named after Grey and now called Pinas Reef, still is home to a population of fish not to be believed. Black, blue and striped marlin are found here in number unheard of in any other fishery in the world and sailfish are caught year round. Due to the immense popularity of this lodge, it is never too early to start making your plans to reserve your space.
