Belize Island Explorer
Trek Safaris has always stayed ahead by offering new and exciting adventures.
A confirmation of this fact is our presentation of the Belize Island Explorer.
This 110 foot ‘”mother ship” is the first legal operation of its kind in Belize.
Operating from the docks of Belize City, the Explorer will venture out to some of
the best light tackle angling along the flats and cays of the world’s second
largest barrier reef. From Turneffe to Ambergris and points off of Placencia,
our native guides will ply their trade for bones and permit as well as other
battlers like jack crevalles, cudas and such. We’ll use the excellently designed
panga boats with 48 horse motors that are more than perfect for the job as we’ll
be anchored on the fish. A perfect reason as to why this mobile operation is so
popular. The Explorer accommodates only ten anglers in single room accommodations
and top notch meals and service. Come see the beauty of Belize and its hundreds
of small cays and catching the fish is a bonus. There are only limited weeks
available. Please call or write for more details.

Ambergris Caye
Just a short flight from Belize City is Ambergris Caye. This island has a unique Caribbean
feel and is home to Victoria House and El Pescador, the two best lodges on the island.
Ambergris has numerous flats holding schooling bonefish on a year round basis. With the
barrier reef just half a mile off the coast, you can count on hooking up with snapper,
grouper as well as other reef dwellers. The spring and summer months offer the best shots
at tarpon on the flats. Nothing is as exciting as being able to sight cast to these silver
kings cruising the gin clear water around Ambergris.
The deluxe accommodations of Victoria House combined with their excellent staff of
guides make this a fantastic program. El Pescador has been a major player in the fishing
industry for nearly 3 decades. Voted as one of the top 20 lodges in the world, El Pescador
backs up it's highly touted reputation daily. These folks are the experts for sure.
Ambergris Caye is also the perfect place for the non angler with some of the best
snorkeling and SCUBA diving to be found anywhere in the world. It is also easy to visit
the various Mayan ruins on the mainland's if aquatic activities are not to your liking.

Turneffe Flats
Thirty miles off the Belizean coast is Turneffe Atoll, the largest of only four coral
reefs in the Western Hemisphere. These waters hold great numbers of bonefish, most in the
3-6 pound range, while the permit found here can top the scales at over 30 pounds. As on
Ambergris Caye, the best tarpon fishing tends to be in the spring and summer months with
some of these monster fish coming in at up to 150 pounds.

Punta Gorda
An hours flight south of Belize City is Punta Gorda Town. El Pescador, Ambergris Caye
has a newly constructed sister property in this beautiful tropical setting. The lodge
sits atop one of the highest elevations in the region affording a fantastic view in all
directions. The 12 private cabanas offer the best in comfort and conveniences. The local
guide have fished these waters all their lives and will put you in the fish. Whether you
wish to cruise the backwater areas for tarpon and snook, or to wade the many flats for the
giant Permit for which this area is famous, you are sure to have a great time. With a bit
longer run out to the Sapadilla Cayes, you will be able to cruise for bonefish as well.
For the non angler, this region has much to offer. From hikes through the tropical
rainforest to kayak trips through the estuaries and on to trips to the several Maya ruins
only a short drive away, you will have no shortage of things to do.
